LTL Dock Operations Lead

Job summary

Estes-Express-Lines seeks a Dock Supervisor to lead dock staff, ensure a safe, efficient LTL operation, and drive performance across the service center in Albany, GA.

You will hire, coach, and develop employees, enforce policies, manage schedules, and coordinate with management to meet KPIs. This role requires strong leadership, communication and planning skills, plus the ability to work extended hours as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor degree preferred.
• Thorough understanding of the LTL trucking industry, basic paperwork flow preferred.
• Prior management, dispatch and dock experience required, preferably in LTL trucking industry.
• Must be knowledgeable of local metropolitan area.
• Strong leadership: hire, coach, counsel, train, mentor and terminate employees.
• Team building and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.
• Excellent planning and organization skills.
• Good computer skills (AS/400 & MS Office a plus).
• Must have strong work ethic and good problem solving skills.
• Willing to work 50 hours/week average.
• Able to work nights/weekends and various weather conditions.
• Able to lift ~20 lbs and comply with all policies.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Lead dock employees and set targets; monitor performance and development.
• Manage a safe, efficient LTL operation; dock planning and scheduling.
• Enforce company policies, safety rules and regulations.
• Participate in hiring and termination processes.
• Administer portions of the Service Center Business plan.
• Meet KPIs and utilize enhancement tools and processes.
• Review and revise schedules to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
• Coordinate equipment assignment with supervisors/management.
• Communicate with customers via phone, fax or email.
• Oversee dock paperwork to ensure timely handling.
• Attend work as required.
