Carle Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the NT7 Digestive Surgical Unit, a 43-bed, bariatric-certified unit at our level trauma center. The role supports high-acuity surgical patients with a patient ratio of 1:4–6, and responsibilities include medication passes, IV piggybacks, charting care plans with RN collaboration, NG tube care, ostomy care, dressings, and discharge teaching.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse licensed in good standing (IDFPR)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days - AHA
• Education: College Diploma: Licensed Practical Nurse (Required)
• Work Experience: LPN >1yr

Responsibilities

• Passes all medications, hangs IV piggybacks and fluids (excludes IV Push meds)
• Charts assessments on assigned patients after RN initial assessment
• Charts on care plans opened by RN, assist with new care plans as needed
• Communicates with physicians/APPs to receive orders and coordinate care
• Complete trach care as needed
• Insert and care for NG tube and feedings through NG tube
• Care for and change ostomy
• Reinforce education and discharge instructions
