Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the NT7 Digestive Surgical Unit. The unit operates in a high-acuity environment with 43 beds, where LPNs work closely with RNs to support surgical and medical patients.

Responsibilities include medication administration, IV piggybacks, wound care, and care plan documentation under RN supervision. The role requires an Illinois LPN license and BLS within 30 days.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with Illinois registration
• BLS within 30 days
• LPN diploma required, 1+ year experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Passes all medications and hangs IV piggybacks and fluids.
• Chart assessments on assigned patients after initial RN assessment.
• Chart care plans once opened by RN and collaborate on new plans.
• Coordinate with physicians/APPs to receive orders and perform dressing changes.
• Provide trach care and NG tube care, including feeding through NG tube.
• Reinforce discharge instructions and patient education.
