Job summary

Carle Health’s NT7 Digestive Surgical Unit is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support high-acuity surgical patients. You will administer medications, assist with IV therapies, perform trach and ostomy care, and coordinate with RNs for care planning.

Strong communication with physicians and APPs ensures patient safety and effective discharge planning. A Bariatric-certified unit offers a dynamic environment with ongoing education.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required with active status (IDFPR).
• BLS certification within 30 days of employment.
• College diploma: Licensed Practical Nurse (Required).
• Work Experience: LPN ≥ 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Passes all medications and hangs IV piggybacks and fluids.
• Charts assessments on assigned patients after RN initial assessment.
• Charts on care plans that RN has opened; RN may open new care plans as needed.
• Communicates with physicians/APPs to receive orders and coordinate care for dressing changes.
• Perform trach care as needed and care for NG tube and feedings.
• Care for ostomy and reinforce discharge instructions.
