Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the NT7 Digestive Surgical Unit. You will administer medications (oral and IV piggybacks), perform wound and ostomy care, and support RNs with patient assessments and care plans for high-acuity digestive surgical patients on a 43-bed unit.

The role emphasizes teamwork, patient safety, and consistent communication with physicians and APPs to ensure quality care and smooth transitions for patients across the care

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification per Illinois requirements.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days per AHA.
• College Diploma: Licensed Practical Nurse (Required).
• Work Experience: LPN >1yr.

Responsibilities

• Passes all medications and handles IV piggybacks and fluids.
• Chart assessments on assigned patients after RN initial assessment.
• Assist with care plans and dressings; coordinate with physicians/APPs for orders.
• Perform trach care, NG tube care, ostomy care, and patient discharge education.
