Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the NT7 Digestive Surgical Unit. The LPN will support RNs, assist with high-acuity patient loads, and perform procedures such as IV piggybacks, wound care, and dressing changes under RN supervision.

The role involves medication administration, patient assessments, and care coordination with physicians. It supports an experienced team committed to safe, high-quality patient care in a busy surgical unit.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification required.
• BLS certification within 30 days required.
• Illinois licensing/IDFPR regulatory compliance essential.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications, including IV piggybacks and fluids (not IV Push).
• Chart patient assessments after RN completes initial assessment and initiates care plan.
• Coordinate with physicians/APPs for orders and care coordination.
• Perform dressing changes, trach care, NG tube care and feedings as needed.
• Reinforce discharge instructions and patient education.
