Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the NT7 Digestive Surgical Unit, a 43-bed high-acuity unit. The LPN will assist with oral and IV meds, wound care, and patient care under RN supervision.

The role emphasizes collaboration within a team of RNs and educators, minimal patient load management, and ensuring patient safety during transitions and discharge.

Qualifications

• Licensure as Licensed Practical Nurse in Illinois.
• BLS certification within 30 days.
• College Diploma: Licensed Practical Nurse (Required).
• Work Experience: LPN >1 year.

Responsibilities

• Passes all medications and hangs IV piggybacks and fluids as ordered.
• Chart assessments on assigned patients after RN initial assessment.
• Update care plans; collaborate with RN for new plans.
• Provide trach care, NG tube care and feedings, ostomy care.
• Reinforce education and discharge instructions.
