Job summary

Carle Health seeks an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the NT7 Digestive Surgical Unit. The 43-bed unit provides care for acute and chronic digestive surgical patients with high acuity needs.

The role involves med passes, IV piggybacks, care planning, and close RN collaboration to ensure safe patient care. Requires IL LPN license and BLS within 30 days; external applicants eligible for a $2,500 sign-on bonus.

Qualifications

• LPN license required (IL).
• BLS certification within 30 days - AHA.

Responsibilities

• Passes medications and hangs IV piggybacks and fluids.
• Charts assessments on assigned patients after RN initial assessment.
• Charts care plans and coordinates with RN to open new plans.
• Communicates with physicians to receive orders and coordinate care.
• Performs trach care, NG tube care, and ostomy care as needed.
• Reinforces discharge instructions and patient education.
