Job summary

Carle Health in Illinois is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join the NT7 Digestive Surgical Unit. The LPN works under RNs, assisting with medications, care plans, and patient care coordination in a high-acuity surgical unit.

Responsibilities include medication administration, IV piggybacks, trach and NG care, ostomy management, and patient education, with a focus on safe, collaborative care alongside experienced nursing staff.

Qualifications

• IL LPN license required.
• BLS certification within 30 days required.
• College Diploma: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) required.
• Work experience: LPN >1 year.

Responsibilities

• Passes all medications, hangs IV piggybacks and fluids.
• Charts assessments on assigned patients after RN initial assessment.
• Charts care plans opened by RN; assist RN to open new plans as needed.
• Coordinate with physicians/APPs for orders and dressings.
• Perform trach care and NG tube care, including feedings.
• Care for ostomies and reinforce discharge instructions.
