Job summary

The Alden Network is seeking a registered nurse (RN) or licensed practical nurse (LPN) to provide direct nursing care to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The successful candidate will develop care plans, administer medications, and monitor patient health.

This on-site role requires independent decision-making, tactful communication with residents, families, and providers, and the ability to cope with challenging emotional situations.

Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered RN or LPN license in Illinois.
• Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures.
• Ability to make independent decisions when warranted.
• Ability to deal tactfully with customers, family members, visitors, personnel, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
• Personable, enthusiastic, resourceful, and able to cope with mental and emotional stress.

Responsibilities

• Develop a written plan of care for each customer identifying problems/needs.
• Make daily rounds to ensure nursing personnel perform required duties and follow procedures.
• Make daily physical rounds to all customers and accompany physicians as necessary.
• Create and maintain a warm, personal, and calm atmosphere throughout the department.
• Prepare and administer medications and treatments as ordered by the physician.
