Job summary

The Alden Network in Illinois is seeking a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse to provide direct nursing care to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

You will develop and follow care plans, supervise daily rounds, prepare and administer medications as ordered, and maintain a warm, calm environment for residents.

Strong communication and decision-making skills are essential to work with staff, families, and physicians in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice as a RN or LPN in the State of Illinois.
• Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures.
• Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant
• Able to deal tactfully with customers, family members, visitors, personnel, government agencies, and the public.
• Personable, enthusiastic, resourceful, and able to cope with mental and emotional stress.

Responsibilities

• Develop and follow a written plan of care for each customer identifying problems/needs.
• Make daily rounds to ensure nursing personnel perform duties and that procedures are followed; accompany physicians as needed.
• Create and maintain a warm, personal, calm atmosphere throughout the department.
• Prepare and administer medications and treatments as ordered by the physician.
• Address other care and well-being needs of customers.
