Job summary

Macy's in Chesapeake, VA is seeking an Asset Protection Detective to help protect store assets, reduce loss, and maintain a safe, customer-focused environment. You will use surveillance, investigative tools, and partnerships with store teams and law enforcement to identify theft, recover merchandise, and support investigations.

You will document findings clearly, prepare evidence for investigations and legal proceedings, and train colleagues on asset protection protocols.

Qualifications

• Observe, identify, and respond to suspicious activity in a retail environment.
• Strong communication with customers, colleagues, leaders, and law enforcement.
• Use sound judgment and de-escalation tools to maintain a safe environment.
• Handle proprietary, sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
• For jobs in New York, a current New York State Security Guard License is required.

Responsibilities

• Identify theft and shortage trends using surveillance and reporting tools.
• Partner with Asset Protection leaders, store teams, and law enforcement on investigations.
• Apply de-escalation techniques to keep customers and colleagues safe.
• Prepare clear documentation and evidence for investigations, audits, and legal proceedings.
• Train colleagues on Asset Protection protocols and shortage reduction.
