Job summary

FedEx Freight in Illinois is seeking a CDL-A truck driver to pick up and deliver trailers between service centers, operating tractor-trailer combinations and performing routine safety inspections. You will handle documentation, logs, and communication with dispatch, with occasional duties at city/dock positions as needed.

The role requires hazmat endorsement, ability to lift heavy loads, compliance with DOT regs, and long-distance travel. Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple and hazardous materials endorsements.
• Experience or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• MVR must meet hiring standards and DOT regulatory requirements.
• Ability to pass DOT medical and regulatory checks.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles (triples where applicable).
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections of equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Complete required documentation and daily logs.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or issues.
• Load and unload freight as required.
• Comply with all laws, regulations, and company policies.
• May perform chaining of tires or duties of city driver/dock employee as needed.
