Job summary

FedEx Freight in Illinois seeks a Class A CDL tractor-trailer driver to move trailers between service centers and turn-points, including doubles where applicable.

You will perform daily pre-trip inspections, hook and unhook trailers, complete required paperwork and logs, and coordinate with dispatch on delays or equipment problems.

Occasional overnight stays and potential duties as dock or city driver may be required; hazardous materials endorsement must be obtained within 120 days of offer.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with double/triple, hazardous materials and tank endorsements.
• Minimum 1 year experience within the most recent 3 years, or successful completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Valid Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) acceptable per hiring standards.
• DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR Part 391 compliance.
• Ability to operate long combination vehicles (LCV) where applicable and meet state standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations and perform pre-trip inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and convertor dollies to/from tractor or trailer.
• Verify and complete required documentation and logs; maintain accurate daily logs.
• Load and unload freight as required and follow dispatch instructions.
• Comply with hazardous materials regulations and company policies.
• Adhere to safety rules and drive in all weather conditions; overnight stays may be required.
