Job summary

Penske Logistics in Merrillville, IN, is seeking an operating supervisor to lead hourly drivers and warehouse staff, ensuring daily tasks align with service and cost objectives.

You will oversee dispatch, loading/unloading, safety, and process accuracy, with strong emphasis on attendance, performance coaching, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. This role requires 2–4 years of logistics experience and strong communication skills; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• 2 - 4 years related functional experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Strong written/oral communication and organizational skills are required.
• Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint required.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, and pass background checks and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Communicate performance standards that are specific and measurable, interview hourly associates and provide hire recommendations, monitor attendance and productivity, and provide counseling or recognition as needed.
• Supervise logistics operations including customer service, freight loading and unloading, dispatch and proper documentation, and coordinate process improvements to increase productivity.
• Ensure compliance with financial policies, manage overtime to meet productivity targets, and understand the link between decision-making and profitability.
• Align day-to-day activities with location safety strategy and provide training and direction to ensure safe performance.
• Understand location goals and assist in Continuous Improvement efforts to enhance customer experience.
