Job summary

J.B. Hunt is seeking a Manager Trainee in Tracy, CA, to learn management of a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends, ensuring safe and timely freight movement and top-tier customer service.

The program trains you to ensure DOT compliance, manage driver performance, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to optimize routing, planning, and reporting for freight and loads.

Qualifications

• Must have at least a high school diploma or GED with up to 4 years of education/experience.
• Bachelor's degree with ability to work across multiple shifts, including nights/weekends, if needed.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and carriers.
• Fill in for absent personnel and work on projects to optimize fleet operations and profitability.
• Assist with training drivers and staff on internal and customer systems.
• Plan, route, monitor freight movement to meet customer requirements and manage exceptions.
• Assist with payroll, budgets, driver reviews, invoicing, and reporting as needed.
• Coordinate yard activities, maintenance scheduling, and safety compliance.
• Work with drivers and customers to resolve service issues and improve routes.
• Support safety training and adherence to DOT regulations.
