Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. is seeking a Manager Trainee to learn and support the management of a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends, while ensuring safe and timely freight movement and exceptional customer service.

You will train to comply with DOT regulations, oversee driver compliance, and collaborate with internal and external contacts to plan, route, monitor, and deliver freight and loads effectively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field OR High School Diploma/GED with 1 year of experience in management, transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or related field, and/or equivalent military experience
• Willing to travel to account, customer, and company event locations when applicable
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed
• Willingness to regionally relocate dependent on account assignment
• Experience managing a team

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain relationships with drivers and carriers to ensure seamless new carrier setup and productivity
• Fill in for absent personnel and on special projects related to fleet optimization and profitability
• Learn to manage training and orientation of drivers and employees and assist with internal and third party systems
• Analyze and report on fleet efficiency, KPIs, and customer reporting and financial analysis
• Manage inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment in market
• Perform payroll, budget, driver counseling, and compliance-related administrative duties
• Manage yard operations including equipment inspections and maintenance coordination
• Collaborate with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve service issues and route planning
• Maintain safety culture through driver safety messages, trainings, and policy enforcement
• Assign loads and plan routes to ensure on-time service and meet customer requirements
