Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. in Stockton, CA seeks a trainee to learn managing a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, ensuring safe, timely freight movement and best-in-class customer service.

You’ll be trained in DOT compliance and driver/corporate policies while coordinating with internal and external contacts to plan, route, monitor, and deliver freight, with opportunity for growth in operations and leadership.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED with up to 4 years of education, experience, and training; willing to travel to account, customer and company event locations when applicable.
• Bachelor’s degree with ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and safe, reliable outside carriers to ensure seamless new carrier set-up and maximize productivity.
• Fill in for absent or unavailable personnel and on special projects related to optimizing fleet operations and profitability.
• Learn to utilize personnel management including training and orientation of drivers and/or employees.
• Become proficient in maximizing efficiency of fleet operations and profitability and making recommendations for continuous improvement, measuring KPIs, and presenting reporting and financial analysis.
• Gain knowledge on how to manage inventory, assets, customer pools and driver assignments to balance equipment in market.
• Perform administrative duties such as payroll, Net-Revenue budget management, driver counseling, accident reviews, invoicing and reports.
• Manage yard operations including checks, repairs, and coordinating with maintenance for scheduled services and safety issues.
• Work with drivers, customers, and company personnel to resolve service issues, routing, planning and on-call support.
• Maintain the Company's safety culture with daily safety messages, driver safety briefings, and annual reviews to meet DOT requirements.
• Assign loads and plan routes to provide safe, on-time service and meet customer requirements.
