Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. is seeking a trainee to learn how to manage a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends, while ensuring safe, timely freight movement and exceptional customer service.

The role involves training on DOT regulations, driver compliance, and coordination with internal and external contacts for planning, routing, monitoring, and delivery of loads across accounts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field; OR HS Diploma/GED with 1 year of related experience.
• Willingness to travel to account, customer, and company event locations.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and safe, reliable outside carriers.
• Fill in for absent personnel and on special projects related to fleet operations and profitability.
• Learn to train and orient drivers and internal staff on systems and processes.
• Assist in maximizing fleet efficiency and profitability and present customer reporting and financial analysis.
• Manage inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment in markets.
• Perform payroll, budgeting, driver counseling, and reporting duties.
• Coordinate vehicle maintenance and ensure safety compliance for equipment.
• Collaborate with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve service issues and plan routes.
