Job summary

Bank of America is seeking a detail-oriented Legal Order specialist to handle complex legal documents and respond on behalf of the bank to third parties. The role focuses on reviewing orders, applying state and federal laws, calculating exemptions, and preparing formal responses to agencies and courts.

You will manage a high-volume caseload, coordinate with law enforcement and courts, and ensure timely, accurate outcomes while maintaining regulatory compliance and data privacy standards.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication, including ability to comprehend complex legal documents.
• Ability to manage a high-volume caseload of litigation requests, subpoena responses, and document retrieval while meeting SLAs.
• Proven ability to conduct complex research, identify and retrieve responsive documents across banking products and repositories.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, prioritizing multiple cases with high accuracy.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills for time-sensitive matters.
• Ability to understand follow-up documents that may impact orders and quickly interpret legal documents.
• Adaptability to changing priorities, regulatory requirements, and business needs in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated with sound judgment and minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Review complex legal orders and determine eligibility to attach client funds.
• Process attachments for levies, garnishments, temp restraining notices, and seizure warrants.
• Determine eligibility for state or Federal exemptions.
• Initiate payment of funds to agencies or courts as applicable.
• Apply Federal Exemptions to allow access to exempt funds.
• Create customer notification letters for account activity.
• Provide official bank responses to courts or agencies.
• Communicate with external agencies as needed.
• Maintain accurate caseload and submit timely responses to legal matters.
• Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and bank policies.
• Make decisions with minimal supervision.
