Alpha reimagines the school day around faster learning, mentorship, and real-world skills. This Literacy Specialist role centers on guiding K-3 students through app-based instruction, diagnosing reading gaps, and delivering short, targeted sessions with 2–4 students daily.

You will stay with your students from launch to closing, aligning with weekly progress data and working on-site at campuses listed, with relocation support as needed.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years working directly with children ages 4-9: teaching, coaching, tutoring, camps, youth programs, or similar.
• At least 2 years of that experience teaching reading in grades K-3, within the last 5 years.
• Completed structured-literacy training or a master's in reading or literacy.
• Bachelor's degree in any subject; teaching certificate not required.

Responsibilities

• Coaching students through app-based core learning: spotting gaps, asking the right questions, and guiding progress.
• Running short structured-literacy sessions with 2–4 students, diagnosing gaps from running records and fluency probes.
• Leading morning launch, life-skills workshops, and check-chart activities for six-year-olds.
• Driving students toward weekly app goals with school currency, leaderboards, and gamification.
• Staying with students through lunch, recess, and closing, addressing frustration with a plan.
