Job summary

Alpha seeks a Literacy Specialist to coach K-3 students through app-based core learning and close reading gaps. You will diagnose decoding gaps, teach targeted sequences, and monitor transfer across daily routines.

The role emphasizes on-site presence and a full-time schedule across Alpha campuses nationwide. You will lead structured activities, drive weekly literacy goals, and partner with teachers and parents to track progress.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years working directly with children ages 4-9 in teaching/coaching/tutoring settings.
• At least 2 years teaching reading in grades K-3 within the last 5 years.
• Completed structured-literacy training (LETRS, IMSE, O-G, Wilson, Fundations, UFLI, CERI, Neuhaus, SIPPS, RGR) or a master's in reading or literacy.
• Bachelor's degree required; teaching certificate not required.
• Legally authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Coaching students through app-based core learning and unblocking gaps with targeted questions.
• Running short literacy sessions for 2–4 students, diagnosing gaps and teaching a self-designed sequence.
• Leading morning launch, life-skills workshops, and check-chart activities with young learners.
• Driving students toward weekly app goals using gamification and leaderboards.
• Staying with students through lunch, recess, and closing, planning for challenging behaviors.
