Job description

The Line Cook is responsible for cooking food to order, as well as preparing raw ingredients and providing a memorable dining experience for our guests. You’ll be surrounded by a wealth of knowledgeable baristas, and participate in the creation of the perfect food pairings for our café staples.

Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook food according to recipes and quality standards
  • Follow production lists to prep food and keep the stations fully stocked throughout the day
  • Communicate any production needs, ordering or waste with the Chef
  • Maintain a clean and organized work station
  • Ensure all food safety guidelines are followed
  • Assist in the cleaning and organizing of the kitchen
  • Communicate any facilities or equipment maintenance with the Chef
  • Follow First in First Out (FIFO) procedures when storing and using products
  • Correctly and clearly label ingredients and finished goods

Qualifications and Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 - 2 years of kitchen experience, or are a recent culinary graduate
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • We work early mornings and weekends, so a flexible schedule is a must
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn and contribute to the success of the team is key
  • You must have a CA food handlers license or the ability to get one within 30 days
  • The hours can be part-time/full-time based on availability, available weekends and Holidays, Hours can fluctuate due to the needs of the business.

Physical Requirements

The following physical demands outline the requirements necessary for employees to effectively carry out the essential functions of this position. Please note that our facility operates in a non-climate-controlled environment, subjecting employees to varying temperatures, including heat during the summer and cold during the winter.

During the performance of duties, employees are expected to engage in regular communication, auditory perception, and reading tasks. Reasonable accommodations will be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to fulfill essential job functions. This role is dynamic and involves prolonged periods of standing (or being on one's feet for up to 8 hours), walking, bending, stooping, and crouching throughout the shift. Additionally, employees will be required to lift products and packaging overhead and may frequently handle items weighing between 25 and 50 pounds. Essential vision capabilities for this role encompass close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Furthermore, adept finger and wrist dexterity are essential for successful performance in this position.
