Job summary

HKA Enterprises, Inc. in Tempe, AZ, is seeking a licensed Structural Engineer (PE/PEng) to support design projects across the US Southwest region, performing structural analysis and design for traditional steel and concrete structures.

You will develop design concepts, apply IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, and AISC, collaborate with Structural Leads and other disciplines, and own assigned structural scope in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineer license (PE/PEng).
• At least four years of experience in structural engineering.
• Experience with U.S. building codes, including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, and AISC.
• Experience with structural engineering analysis software, Navisworks, and Bluebeam.
• Experience designing and analyzing traditional steel and concrete structures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform conventional structural engineering analysis and design under general supervision.
• Plan and conduct work using independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Apply engineering judgment and problem-solving skills, including lateral analysis and design for wind and seismic conditions under applicable building-code provisions.
• Review your own work, maintain a high level of quality control, and perform calculation checking of other engineers' work.
• Own assigned structural scope and manage work to meet schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
• Define scope, forecast level of effort, identify scope changes, and escalating them to the Structural Lead when needed.
• Recognize when guidance is needed and work in a timely, accurate, and cost-effective manner with strong attention to detail.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to designers, drafters, and less experienced engineers.
• Help advance structural workflows, systems, and tools while embracing emerging technologies.
