Job summary

Why This Opportunity

As a Structural Engineer, you will be an integral member of a multidisciplinary design team, performing a significant portion of structural analysis and design. You will develop design concepts, complete analysis and design, and work with designers and other disciplines to communicate structural requirements in design documents and models. The role may include serving as Lead Structural Engineer for medium-sized projects or Sub Lead for larger projects, with opportunities for career growth based on your motivation, capabilities, and attitude.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform conventional structural engineering analysis and design with little or no supervision.
• Plan and conduct work requiring independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Apply sound engineering judgment and problem-solving skills, including lateral analysis and design for wind and seismic loading under applicable building-code provisions.
• Apply a strong foundation in structural engineering fundamentals and knowledge of multiple subject areas.
• Understand how structural design integrates with and impacts other disciplines.
• Build understanding of business trends and industry issues and challenges relevant to structural engineering work.
• Check your own work, maintain a high level of attention to detail and quality control, and perform calculation checking of other engineers’ work.
• Take ownership of assigned structural scope and manage workload to meet schedule, budget, and quality requirements in a timely, accurate, and cost-effective manner.
• Define scope and forecast the level of effort needed, including when conditions of satisfaction are not fully defined.
• Identify scope changes and elevate them to the Structural Lead or Project Manager.
• Recognize when assistance is needed and reach out to peers and senior engineers for guidance.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching, and/or mentorship to designers, drafters, and less experienced engineers.
• Advance workflows, systems, and tools within the structural discipline and embrace emerging technologies.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineer license (PE/PEng).
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in structural engineering.
• Proficiency with US building codes, including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, and AISC.
• Proficiency with structural engineering analysis software, Navisworks, and Bluebeam.
• Proficiency in designing and analyzing traditional steel and concrete structures.

Preferred Qualifications

• MS degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering or MS degree in Structural Engineering.
• Structural Engineer license (SE).
• Experience in semiconductor industrial or general industrial facilities.
• Experience leading medium teams.

Work Environment

• Candidates must live in Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, New Mexico, Nevada, or Utah.
• Candidates who live within 50 miles of the Phoenix office are required to report 2 days per week; otherwise, the work is remote.
• Employees must provide internet service at home as required to effectively meet project performance requirements.
