Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services, a Takeda company, seeks a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to determine donor eligibility, manage adverse events, review lab results, and notify donors of unsuitable tests. You will work under the Center Manager and Center Physician, ensuring regulatory compliance and quality across operations.

Role requires state nursing licensure (LPN/LVN), CPR/AED, and IV therapy readiness, with at least two years in a clinical setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN.
• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility; manage informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical exam, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reaction(s) per SOPs and arrange medical emergencies including Center Physician standing orders and donor transport.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings, medical or technical issues, donor safety, and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health/ER evaluation per EHS guidance.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations related to pandemic threats.

Education
