Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking licensed Professional Engineers to lead business development and engineering work in our California market. You will manage client relationships, price and propose testing programs, and seal geotechnical reports while directing field staff and coordinating with our Sugar Land laboratory footprint.

You will act as engineer of record on projects, travel to client offices and jobsites as needed, and participate in industry events.

Qualifications

Active PE license in the state of posting, or ability to obtain by comity within 90 days.
6+ years in construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering, or special inspection with client-facing responsibility.
Proven ability to bring in work or a credible plan to do so in this market.
Comfortable pricing, negotiating, and saying no to bad contracts.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain a book of clients—general contractors, owners, developers, and design firms—for materials testing and geotechnical services.
Scope, price, and write proposals; negotiate terms; convert opportunities into signed work.
Serve as engineer of record on projects you win; review data, seal reports/letters; supervise technicians and coordinate with the lab.
Represent the company at owner meetings, pre-construction meetings, and industry events in your market.
