Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking licensed Professional Engineers who can blend business development with rigorous engineering work. You will maintain client relationships, scope and price proposals, and seal geotechnical letters while leading field teams and coordinating with our Sugar Land laboratory.

The role requires 6+ years in materials testing or geotechnical engineering, a strong client network or plan to build one, and comfort with pricing and contract terms.

Qualifications

• Active Professional Engineer license (civil, geotechnical, or structural).
• 6+ years in construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering, or special inspection.
• Record of bringing in work or credible plan to do so in this market.
• Comfort with pricing, negotiating, and saying no to a bad contract.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a book of clients including general contractors, owners, developers, and design firms for materials testing, special inspection, and geotechnical services.
• Scope, price, and write proposals; negotiate terms; convert opportunities into signed work.
• Serve as engineer of record on the projects you win: review field and laboratory data, seal reports and letters.
• Direct technicians and inspectors on your projects and coordinate with the laboratory on testing schedules.
• Represent the company at owner meetings, pre-construction meetings, and industry events in your market.
