Medical Eyeglass Center, Inc. is seeking an Optical Associate to join our team inside medical offices, delivering an outstanding eyewear experience from selection to fitting and adjustments while supporting clinic staff.

You will manage prescriptions, orders, payments, and insurance claims, maintain inventory, and provide personable, professional service to patients, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with optical dispensing license.
• Minimum 2 years experience in optical settings and familiarity with frame adjustments/repairs.
• Ability to read spectacle prescriptions and understand related measurements (PD, seg height, optical center).
• Experience with insurance eligibility checks and authorizations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patients with an outstanding eyewear experience from selection to fitting and adjustments.
• Process orders accurately through MEC’s point-of-sale systems.
• Maintain detailed records of prescriptions, orders, payments, and insurance claims.
• Review and track lab orders to ensure timely, accurate completion.
• Submit insurance claims, post payments, and follow up on receivables.
• Dispense prescription and nonprescription eyewear and contact lenses where applicable.
• Assist patients with eyewear adjustments, repairs, and cleaning.
• Maintain frame inventory and keep displays organized and stocked.
• Review daily patient schedules to anticipate volume and sales opportunities.
• Support in-office promotions and marketing materials.
• Build positive relationships with providers, technicians, and staff.
• Maintain a welcoming environment for patients and staff.
