Job summary

AEG is seeking a Licensed Optician to provide expert eyewear solutions and exceptional patient care on-site. You will assist patients in selecting frames and lenses, ensure proper fit and accurate dispensing, and maintain strong patient relationships to drive satisfaction and repeat business.

Responsibilities include interpreting prescriptions, entering data into the EHR/ALE system, and educating patients on care, warranties, and insurance benefits.

Qualifications

• State licensure in the applicable state.
• High school diploma or GED.
• ABO/NCLE preferred but not required.
• Optical dispensing experience.
• HIPAA requirements preferred.
• PC skills including MS Office, Windows, and Word Processing.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Excellent customer service and sales experience.
• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

• Deliver extraordinary patient experiences by explaining eyewear recommendations and product options.
• Receive patient handoffs from technicians or doctors and assess visual needs through lifestyle questions.
• Keep up-to-date with company products, rebates, and lens/frame options.
• Communicate order status and resolve issues with patients and escalate when needed.
• Assist patients in selecting frames, lenses, and treatments based on prescriptions and lifestyle.
• Educate patients on eyeglass and contact lens care, warranties, and coverage options.
• Understand medical and vision insurance plans, including eligibility and benefits.
• Interpret prescriptions and enter information into the EHR/ALE system accurately.
• Follow up on pending orders and notify patients when eyewear is ready.
• Dispense glasses, check fit, adjust as needed, and seek patient feedback.
• Adjust eyewear for optimal fit and comfort using appropriate tools.
• Proficient with tools such as pupilometers, PD sticks, lensometers, and frame maintenance.
