Job summary

City of Southfield seeks a skilled technology specialist to serve as the library's primary IT resource, supporting a secure infrastructure and patron-facing services. You will manage Microsoft 365, the Integrated Library System, and the Veeam backup solution, while overseeing the Cisco Meraki wireless network and library platforms such as the online catalog, RFID, and CapiraMobile app.

The role requires experience with Windows environments, VMware, and enterprise backup, with preferred knowledge

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Computer Science or related field, or four years of equivalent relevant work experience.
• 1+ years supporting wireless technologies (APs, hotspots, IoT).
• 1+ years administering enterprise backup solutions (Veeam, etc.).
• 1+ years supporting Windows 10/11 desktops.
• 2+ years supporting Microsoft 365 cloud environments.
• 3+ years supporting VMware and Windows Server environments (AD, DNS, DHCP, GP).
• Experience with ILS or enterprise systems (ERP/WMS/EHR) is a plus.
• Public library environment experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Network Administrator to maintain secure, reliable technology infrastructure for library systems and patron-facing services.
• Administer and support Microsoft 365 environment (Exchange Online, Entra ID, Defender, Teams, SharePoint).
• Manage Integrated Library System (ILS), including updates, security, permissions, workflows, and integrations.
• Manage Veeam cloud backup system including verification, restoration, storage, and service management.
• Oversee Cisco Meraki wireless network infrastructure: dashboard, AP configuration, firmware, monitoring, troubleshooting.
• Support library platforms (catalog, OCLC, databases, RFID, self-checkout, CapiraMobile).
• Control network access for patron authentication and premium digital resources.
• Administer Internet filtering to meet FCC E-rate requirements.
• Troubleshoot staff/patron tech issues; perform other duties as assigned.
