Job summary

MidPointe Library System seeks an Information Technology Technician to support and maintain computer and network operations across library facilities. You’ll provide technical support for new and existing technology and assist in maintaining staff and public equipment.

Role covers Windows, Linux, and macOS environments, LAN/WAN/Wi‑Fi, and cloud services like Office 365 and Azure. Travel between facilities is required and overtime may be necessary to keep systems running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or associate degree in computer or MIS highly desired.
• Minimum 2 years’ in-person work experience in computers and/or network technical support.
• Prior library experience helpful.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation for travel between Library facilities.
• Prior experience with Windows desktop and Server operating systems needed.
• LAN/WAN experience and A+ experience desirable.
• Knowledge of virtualization, Office 365, Azure, and Hyper-V.
• Experience configuring routers, switches and servers.
• Ability to make sound judgments, be resourceful and communicate clearly.
• Positive attitude, adaptability, and ability to work independently or in teams.
• Ability to learn library-supported software and communicate in English.
• Availability to work days, some evenings, weekends, and IT emergency calls; some remote work possible.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to enhance the user experience.
• Support applications and computers in Windows11, Windows Server, Linux, and macOS.
• Provide LAN, WAN, Wi‑Fi support and monitor network systems.
• Support virtual infrastructure including Office 365, Azure, Hyper-V, AD, DNS/DHCP.
• Identify, troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve hardware and network issues.
• Configure and manage routers, switches and servers.
• Install hardware, software and updates; arrange repairs when needed.
• Provide effective help desk support to staff and patrons.
• Organize, maintain and store PCs and related equipment.
• Assist in computer projects and prepare equipment for pickup or shipping.
• Provide one-on-one and group instruction in software use and maintenance.
• Monitor VOIP systems and maintain relationships with staff.
• Attend meetings and training to stay current with technology.
