Job summary

City of Southfield Public Library seeks an experienced IT/Technology Librarian to manage the library’s website, intranet and digital content.

You will maintain events content, support video/AV programs, assist patrons with digital resources, and advise staff on emerging technologies. A MLS from an ALA-accredited program and strong public service ethos are required; familiarity with web scripting is a plus.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Library Science or substantial completion of MLS from an ALA-accredited institution.
• Strong communication and public service orientation.
• Experience with technology, software and programs including video recording and streaming devices.
• Knowledge of online information resources, downloadable media, and relevant software.
• Awareness of current trends in public libraries.
• Web site management experience and knowledge of a web scripting language (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Administer and update the Library's website and intranet.
• Create and maintain website content including events, videos, and programs.
• Manage digital programs library and links to resources.
• Provide AV support and tech programs.
• Assist patrons with printing and digital resources; answer inquiries via phone and chat.
• Support technology services help line and email.
• Research emerging technologies and advise staff on toolbox.
• Other related duties as assigned.
