Job summary

Longroad Energy is seeking a Legal Intern to work with attorneys and paralegals in our Boston office, 2–3 days per week, for a 10–12 week summer program. You will gain exposure to corporate governance, real estate, permitting, and transactional matters while supporting the legal team.

Ideal candidates are undergraduates or rising law students with strong writing, research, and organizational skills, plus interest in renewable energy. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree or a J.D. path in an ABA-accredited program.
• GPA benchmark or class percentile requirement applies.
• Interest in renewable energy and transactional legal work is essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist with real estate, permitting and local affairs, corporate, regulatory matters and more under attorney supervision.
• Draft and review corporate governance documents for consistency and compliance.
• Support implementation of internal policies and procedures.
• Review and draft basic contracts.
• Develop and update systems tracking legal matters (NDAs, UCCs, etc.).
• Possibly visit operating wind and solar projects; travel funding may be provided.

Program Description

Longroad Energy’s internship program provides opportunities for undergraduate students to explore careers in renewable energy. In 2027, Longroad will offer paid internship positions that create challenging hands‑on learning experiences for college juniors, entering their senior year in the Fall. Selected interns will participate in a 10–12-week summer program that includes onboarding, structured work experience, mentoring, and exposure both to department‑specific and company‑wide personnel and activities.

Job Purpose

The Legal Intern will work directly with attorneys, paralegals and other team members in Longroad’s legal department and gain exposure to a variety of legal disciplines and functions, including operations, corporate governance, and real estate. The Legal Intern may also have the opportunity to work with intern(s) on other teams. This role is based out of our Boston office coming in 2-3 times a week.

Responsibilities & Tasks

• Assist with and support matters falling under the following categories: real estate, permitting & local affairs, commercial, corporate and regulatory matters, alongside and under supervision by Longroad attorneys and other team members.
• Assist in the review and drafting of corporate governance documents for consistency and compliance.
• Assist with implementation of company internal policies and procedures.
• Review and draft basic contracts.
• Developing and/or updating systems for tracking matters that the legal department manages (e.g., corporate matters, NDAs, UCCs, etc.).
• Potentially visit operating wind and solar projects (funding will be provided for travel).

Qualifications

• Undergraduate student at a 4-year college or rising 2L law student pursuing a Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school
• Preferred major of Political Science, Pre-Law, Economics, Environmental Studies or other related majors.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher for college students or top 25% of class for law students
• Interest in Renewable Energy Industry and transactional legal work

Compensation

This role pays $25 hour.
