Job summary

G&W Electric is seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee daily manufacturing operations for a designated value stream. You will plan and assign work, implement policies and procedures, and drive improvements in throughput, quality, safety and cost.

The ideal candidate has 5–7 years in manufacturing, at least 3 years directing an hourly workforce, and strong Lean/Six Sigma knowledge. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and competitive compensation in a state-of-the-art facility.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years’ progressive experience in a manufacturing environment
• Minimum 3 years directing an hourly or manufacturing workforce
• High School diploma or GED; A Bachelor’s Degree is a plus
• Possesses intermediate computer skills including experience using the MS Office suite, a business planning and inventory system
• Has excellent problem solving and communication skills
• Has extensive knowledge and leadership in the principles and practice of Lean, Six Sigma, 5P and/or other continuous improvement models; participated in related improvement projects

Responsibilities

• Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas; meet schedules
• Control manpower and materials needed to complete jobs accurately and on time
• Guides/monitors group toward its goals; ensure productivity and adjust work roles
• Assist in initiating and leading continuous improvement activities
• Continuously evaluate and improve manufacturing processes using lean concepts and Six Sigma
• Supervise the work of manufacturing employees
• Track absenteeism and approve timekeeping records
• Provide employee mentoring and development and resolve issues through coaching
• Make employment decisions
• Arrange training to improve throughput and reduce scrap/rework
• Recommend disciplinary actions
• Evaluate performance against job requirements and goals
• Ensure safety training and conduct safety investigations
• Lead accident investigations and safety observations
• Coordinate with Warehouse Manager on inventory
• Coordinate projects with other supervisors and departments
• Monitor production schedules and report delays
• Manage departmental performance measures with visual controls
• Support new product introductions to production; update work instructions
