Job summary

General Motors is seeking an energetic Industrial Engineer to champion early development of new product programs across battery and driveline systems, machining, and assembly. You will drive Lean manufacturing, plan execution, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure seamless transitions from concept to production.

The role requires strong analytical and communication skills, proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office, and willingness to travel up to 50% across North America and beyond.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of Industrial Engineering experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% (USA/Canada/Mexico and abroad).
  • Experience with Standardized Work (STDS) and Assembly Line Balance (APS).
  • Preferred: 3 years IE experience; knowledge of Vehicle/Powertrain/Propulsion development; experience procuring workstation materials; familiarity with BMC, simulations, and CIP.

Responsibilities

  • Implement Lean Manufacturing Systems and standardized work to balance lines and meet KPI targets.
  • Develop plans and countermeasures to Launch Timing Plans and IE deliverables.
  • Coordinate integration with engineering, suppliers, and in-plant IE from concept to full production.
  • Provide investment and labor impact analyses for new programs and model year studies.
  • Lead Plan For Every Part workshops to align multi-functional teams on process, packaging, and layouts.
  • Analyze system data to improve performance and participate in Throughput Improvement (TIP) workshops.
  • Engage in Virtual Builds and Pre-Production builds to understand build processes, tooling, and requirements.
  • Collaborate with Pre-Production to feedback on design-for-manufacturability and ergonomics.
  • Support resolution of ergonomic issues and apply IE tools (STDS, APS, BMC, simulations).
  • Build strong relationships with plant personnel and mentor peers on projects.
