Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Manufacturing Execution Engineer GA for ME Optimization to lead cross‑site GA optimization projects, driving lean processes and automation in GM vehicle assembly plants. The role collaborates with Manufacturing Engineering, Plant Production, IE, Quality, and Maintenance to maximize efficiency and reduce MCPU while delivering scalable solutions across the enterprise.

The position requires 5+ years in manufacturing engineering, 3+ years in launches, and strong teamwork

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience.
• 3+ years of experience supporting manufacturing launches.
• Ability to work independently and drive decisions.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration across plants and central teams.
• Solid data management, analysis, and presentation skills for complex challenges.
• Creative, action-oriented mindset with a track record of implementing solutions.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% (domestic and international).

Responsibilities

• Define all areas of change including tooling, automation, workstation layout, and facilities.
• Analyze and design efficient material flow and future-state strategies.
• Develop interfaces and deploy common tooling, processes, and standards.
• Provide technical direction to vendors and internal teams.
• Lead design, construction, integration, and launch of equipment and tools.
• Coordinate automation projects with CI leads and ME/IE teams.
• Track project status and financial targets; manage budgets.
• Support vehicle performance integration and resolution of issues in GA.
• Provide engineering launch leadership and on-site support at plant launches.
• Run progress meetings and communicate status, risks, and actions.
