Job summary

General Motors Corporation seeks an Industrial Engineer / Ergonomist to partner with Production, Global Supply Chain, and Safety to improve plant performance while protecting worker health. The role combines industrial engineering, lean strategies, and ergonomics to reduce waste, improve productivity, and support ongoing operations and launches.

You will analyze data, apply standard times, and collaborate across departments to implement job modifications and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Ergonomics, or related field required.
  • 2+ years in manufacturing/assembly setting with IE/ergonomics exposure.
  • Experience in time studies, motion analysis, or ergonomic risk assessments.
  • Ability to lead, plan, and manage multiple projects with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Industrial Engineering (50%): implement lean practices, improve material flow, and design efficient work operations.
  • Ergonomics (50%): conduct risk analyses, study data trends, and implement ergonomic improvements.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and safety teams to drive loss reduction and productivity.
  • Maintain routings and layouts using CAD tools; support bottleneck analysis and throughput planning.
  • Coach teams on standardized work and problem-solving methods; report to safety boards.
  • Support launch activities and future-state manufacturing plans with data-driven insights.
