Job summary

General Motors LLC is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to analyze, design, and implement manufacturing processes for transmission and drive unit assembly equipment. You will lead process improvements, support prototypes, and coordinate with product engineering and vendors to ensure high-quality parts.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience, with a hybrid work model (3 days in-office, 2 days remote) and ~25% domestic travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronic or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience in manufacturing engineering and design for manufacturability.
• Experience with transmission and drive unit equipment and processes.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and implement product and machinery designs for best method for manufacturing process.
• Propose and evaluate processes for equipment in the assigned area.
• Design, develop, and improve manufacturing processes.
• Participate in project management for large projects for Transmission and Drive unit Assembly Equipment.
• Support prototype builds through development of processes, tooling, and equipment with product engineering.
• Implement the production manufacturing process for new products.
• Design, construction, integration, plant installation, launch, and continuous improvement of equipment and tools.
• Provide technical direction to and oversight of outside vendor sources.
• Participate in development and testing of advanced process technology.
• Provide technical direction to and coordination of less experienced process engineers.
• Investigate warranty data and implement corrective actions to prevent repeat defects.
• Apply lessons learned to future product and process designs.
