Job summary

General Motors is seeking a manufacturing engineer to lead design, development, and optimization of processes in our Michigan facilities. You will analyze, improve, and document tooling and methods, and guide a small technical team to meet production goals.

The role requires 5+ years in automotive manufacturing, strong communication, and the ability to travel up to 50% while supporting multiple shifts and projects across the plant.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent relevant education & training.
• 5+ years experience with similar equipment & tools (preferred).
• Experience with automotive assembly processes and related tools and equipment.
• Strong communication skills to clearly communicate complex topics.
• High interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team.
• Ability to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Direct the design, development, and improvement of manufacturing processes for assigned area.
• Analyze and implement product or machinery designs for the best method for manufacturing processes.
• Propose and evaluate the processes for equipment in assigned area.
• Provide direction to small group of technical employees.
• Evaluate or monitor expenditures for processes and/or equipment.
• Interpret product data and specifications to develop tools and equipment for manufacturing.
• Develop and oversee production of build process documentation for the shop floor.
• Interact with design and product engineering activities to determine manufacturing feasibility.
