Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. is seeking a Warehouse Automation Engineer to identify, pilot, and deploy new automation technologies across customers and internal operations.

You will lead design validation, ROI analysis, and vendor evaluations while coordinating with operations, IT, and product teams to deliver scalable solutions. The role requires experience in automation and data analytics, with a focus on implementing improvements and achieving measurable operational performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field of study.
• Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field of study (preferred).
• 3+ years in warehouse automation, material handling technologies, industrial engineering, or warehouse systems integration (preferred).
• 2+ years in warehouse automation experience (preferred).
• 2+ years in related automation knowledge including sortation conveyors, goods-to-person, autonomous vehicles/robots, AS/RS (preferred).
• Experience in automation management consulting, physical & process robotics (beginner to required).
• Knowledge of Warehouse Management operations, data analytics, Lean methods (beginner to required).
• Knowledge of materials handling equipment and automation types; CAD, slotting, MOST, simulation, WMS, Labor Mgmt; data visualization tools like Tableau/Power BI (beginner to required).

Responsibilities

• RFP and New Business Support: lead minor RFP projects and support lead engineer on major RFPs by leading automation selection and ROI justification.
• SOW contract validation: identify gaps in vendor FSD/SOW using FSD Checklist.
• Design Validation: provide input on automation designs ensuring operational performance and cost-effectiveness.
• Automation Procurement: lead collateral for vendor reviews and requests for quotes.
• Implementation Project Management: manage smaller projects, update Punch List and project plans.
• Implementation Support: attend status calls, ensure optimal on-site support, communicate with vendor and on-site staff.
• Data Analytics: profile data from dashboards to support optimization projects.
• SAT testing and commissioning: support SAT and track punches.
• Strategy and Success Measurements: help set personal goals with manager.
• Financial: validate spend and assist tracking of project budgets.
• Automation Troubleshooting: collaborate with vendors on Priority 1-5 tickets.
