Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. is seeking a Warehouse Automation Engineer to identify, pilot, and deploy warehouse automation technologies across multiple lines of business.

You will work with operations, IT, solution design, and customers to validate concepts, implement pilots, and drive measurable efficiency gains. The role requires collaboration across regions, vendors, and internal stakeholders to evaluate and deploy new automation capabilities that deliver competitive differentiation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field of study.
• Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field of study.
• 3+ years in warehouse automation, material handling technologies, industrial engineering or warehouse systems integration.
• 2+ years in experience in warehouse automation; proficiency with various automation technologies is preferred.
• Knowledge of warehouse management operations, data analytics, Lean methods and automation.
• Knowledge of material handling equipment and automation types (forklifts, racking, packaging, automation design).
• Experience with CAD, slotting, simulation, WMS/Labor Mgt; Tableau/Power BI a plus.

Responsibilities

• RFP and New Business Support: lead automation selection and ROI justification for new projects.
• SOW validation: help identify gaps in vendor FSD/SOW using the FSD Checklist.
• Design validation: review options for feasibility, clearance, power, and SLA targets.
• Automation procurement: prepare vendor review materials and RFQ responses.
• Implementation project management: track milestones and punch lists for projects.
• Data analytics: profile data to support system optimization and analytics.
• SAT testing support and punch list tracking during go-live.
• Strategy & success measurements: set goals with manager.
• Financial: monitor project budgets and spend with project leads.
• Automation troubleshooting: collaborate with vendors on Priority 1-5 issues.
