Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support direct and indirect patient care during operative procedures. You will prepare sterile fields, assist surgeons, and function as a lead tech when needed while mentoring other technologists and students.

The role requires an Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology with a completion certificate and BLS certification within 30 days. Expect a dynamic schedule including on-call hours in a busy surgical environment.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 30 days of hire is required.
• Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology is required.
• Certificate of Completion in Surgical Technology is required.

Responsibilities

• Preparation for surgeon-specific procedures that is timely, accurate and efficient.
• Set up sterile field and scrub in prior to patient entering the room.
• Assist in cases and ensure instruments, equipment and sutures are complete and functional.
• Precept and mentor RNs and technologists; participate in teaching students.
• Run Mayo stand independently; adapt style to surgeon and procedures.
• Plan for intra-op events and ensure timely intervention for changes.
• Engage in on-call hours outside scheduled work, including after-hours, weekends and holidays.
• Communicate and collaborate with others to ensure instrument availability and case readiness.
