Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a senior project manager to lead a multi-disciplinary team on high voltage substations in the U.S. You will guide design from concept through detailed execution, coordinating engineers and designers with strong client liaison and account management duties.

Hybrid work is offered: three days in the office and two remote, with a relocation package depending on location. Extensive HV substation experience and travel to project sites are required.

Qualifications

• BS from ABET-accredited engineering OR advanced management/business degree.
• Hands-on MISO facility studies knowledge (DPP).
• PM of utility transmission/distribution substation projects.
• Knowledge of NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEC, IEEE and ANSI.
• 20+ years in multi-discipline substation design in a project team.
• 5+ years leading an engineering design team.
• Knowledge of equipment and pre-engineered systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Experience as firm/client liaison.
• Experience with construction documents.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a project team of engineers and designers.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and implement solutions to modernize the electric grid.
• Direct coordination from concept to detailed design, field support and closeout.
• Support account management and client engagement with peer-to-peer reporting and conflict resolution.
• Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Coordinate facility studies for various RTOs.
• Prepare reports and studies presenting technical information per client requirements.
• Perform independent reviews of work, including calculations and drawings.
• Travel to project sites as needed.
