Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced project leader to manage a team of engineers and designers working on high voltage substations. You will oversee design through execution, coordinate with clients, and drive projects to meet scope, schedule, and budget while expanding our grid modernization efforts.

The role requires deep expertise in utility substation design, strong communication, and the ability to travel to project sites.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree or advanced management degree required.
• Hands-on experience with MISO facility studies and knowledge of the DPP process.
• Experience in project management of utility transmission & distribution substation projects.
• Knowledge of NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEC, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• 20+ years in design of multi-disciplined solutions for HV substations; cross-discipline scope.
• 5+ years leading an engineering design team through all project phases.
• Familiar with available equipment and pre-engineered systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication; client liaison experience.
• Willing to travel to project sites and client meetings.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a project team of engineers and designers for high voltage substations.
• Investigate, trouble-shoot, and implement solutions to modernize the electric grid.
• Direct the Team Lead in coordinating engineering and design from concept to construction.
• Support account management and client engagement with peer-to-peer reporting and conflict resolution.
• Lead efforts to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Coordinate facility studies for various RTOs and ensure conformance with specs and client requirements.
• Prepare technical reports and studies in a clear, client-focused format.
• Perform independent reviews of work, calculations, and drawings.
