Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced engineering leader to manage a team of engineers and designers for high voltage substations. The role involves guiding projects from concept through detailed design, coordinating with clients, and ensuring on-time, within-budget delivery.

Applicants should have 20+ years in HV substation design, strong knowledge of standards, and a track record in leading multi-disciplinary teams. Hybrid work arrangement with relocation support is available.

Qualifications

• Essential: BS in an ABET-accredited engineering program or advanced management/business degree.
• Hands-on experience with MISO facility studies and DPP process.
• Experience in Project Management of Utility Transmission & Distribution Substation Projects.
• Knowledge of NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEC, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• 20+ years in design of multi-disciplined solutions for utility HV substations.
• 5+ years leading an engineering design team through all project phases.
• Knowledge of available equipment and pre-engineered systems for design.
• Proven verbal and written communication for presentations/proposals/reports.
• Experience as firm/client liaison in a support or lead role.
• Familiarity with construction documents.
• Willingness to travel to project sites/client meetings.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a project team of engineers and designers for HV substations.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and implement solutions to modernize the electric grid.
• Coordinate engineering and design from concept to detailed design and field support.
• Support account management and client engagement with reports and coordination.
• Lead efforts to complete projects on time and within budget.
• Coordinate facility studies for various RTOs.
• Ensure designs meet specifications, codes, and client requirements.
• Prepare reports and studies with clear technical information.
• Perform independent reviews of work and calculations.
