Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Substation Engineer Consultant to lead project teams of engineers, designers, estimators, controls and scheduling professionals in the design, modification, and analysis of high voltage substations. The role includes directing design phases, coordinating with civil/structural teams, and ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery.

The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, with three days in the office and two remote days, plus relocation support depending on location.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Engineering degree required; project management experience in utility transmission/substation projects preferred.
• Experience with NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEC, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• 10+ years in design engineering or management of high voltage projects with scope development, design basis, equipment/material selection, and calculations.
• Experience with EPC, Owners Engineer, traditional or joint ventures a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage project teams of engineers, designers, estimators, controls and scheduling professionals.
• Direct the team lead in the coordination of detailed design phases for electrical engineering work.
• Coordinate and manage work with civil, structural, and transmission line stakeholders.
• Lead efforts to deliver high quality, on time and within budget results.
• Identify out of scope work, develop scope changes, and coordinate with clients for approval.
• Prepare reports and studies presenting technical information per client requirements and Sargent & Lundy formats.
• Perform reviews of calculations, drawings, reports, specifications, and procurement documentation.
• Communicate with clients providing project and account support; assist business development.
