Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Lead Physical Engineer to head the Renewables Substation team. You will guide 35kV–500kV substation layouts, grounding, and structural integrity while mentoring a small engineering group.

You will coordinate with electrical, civil, and drafting teams, ensuring design quality and regulatory compliance across large renewable projects. A PE license and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited program.
• 7–9 years in substation design/engineering.
• PE License; strong communication skills.
• Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, NEC, NESC, NERC standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering of 35kV to 500kV substation layouts with focus on grounding and structural integrity.
• Mentor a Physical design team of 3–5 engineers/designers with regular feedback.
• Provide technical support in procurement, vendor review, and construction.
• Coordinate with multi-discipline teams to ensure design consistency.
• Manage multiple projects, timelines, and resources; produce calculations and drawings.
