Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. seeks a Lead Physical Engineer to join our Renewables Substation team. You will lead substation physical design and engineering for large-scale, transmission-interconnected projects and mentor a three-to-five person design team.

You will collaborate with engineers, designers, and drafters to ensure designs meet codes and stakeholder requirements while coordinating with P&C and Civil/Structural teams to deliver integrated documents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited program.
• 7–9 years of work experience in substation design and engineering.
• PE License.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, NEC, NESC, NERC codes and industry standards.
• Proficiency in assessing mechanical forces and thermal effects on high fault currents for rigid bus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering of 35kV to 500kV physical substation layouts with optimal equipment placement and grounding.
• Provide leadership to a substation design team of engineers and drafters.
• Coordinate with Substation Project Engineer and other discipline leads to ensure design documents are integrated.
