Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Lead Physical Engineer to join our Renewables Substation team.

This role leads the physical engineering and design for large-scale, transmission-interconnected renewable projects and provides guidance to a three-to-five person design team. You will coordinate with engineers, designers, and drafters to deliver designs that meet codes and stakeholder requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited program.
• Minimum 7-9 years of work experience in substation design and engineering.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, grounding, lightning protection, illumination and clearances.
• PE License.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Familiarity with industry standards and codes.
• General knowledge of substation equipment and design practices.
• Experience with major primary equipment and bus work.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering of 35kV to 500kV physical substation layouts.
• Mentor a team of three to five engineers and designers.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and stakeholders to ensure coordinated designs.
• Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, bills of materials, and specifications.
• Ensure designs meet NESC, IEEE, and local utility requirements.
